What is CCDC? |

|
CCDC is a two day event and the first competition that specifically focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing “commercial” network infrastructure. Not only do students get a chance to test their knowledge in an operational environment, they will also get a chance to network with industry professionals who are always on the look out for up and coming engineers. CCDC provides a unique opportunity for students and industry professionals to interact and discuss many of the security and operational challenges the students will soon face as they enter the job market.
CCDC not only benefits the students involved, but will also benefit corporations as these graduates will be bringing a more experienced skill set to their jobs upon beginning their employment. | Who is able to participate? | |||
| Only five schools/teams will be accepted to participate in the competition this year and will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each team can consist of up to eight students, two of which may be Graduate students. The competition may include schools from Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. | |||
What does the competition cost |

| There is a $99 entry fee per team which will be used to provide food through-out the competition and offset the cost of providing judges and infrastructure | |||
Where will the competition be hosted? |
|||
| The competition will be hosted at Dakota State University (DSU) in Madison, SD. For more information finding us please see our locate us page. | |||
When will the competition take place? |

What do we need to bring? |
|||
| Your team is not required to bring any equipment. All equipment will be provided by DSU. | |||

What is required of the team? |
|||
| Teams will need to make arrangements for lodging. Lodging is available in Madison and you can find a listing of hotels in Madison here. | |||
|
Is a team advisor required? |
|||
| No. While advisors are encouraged, they are not required and will not be allowed to participate in the competition. | |||
|
What do we win if we win the competition? |
|||
| The winning team will earn an all-expense paid trip to compete at the National CCDC in San Antonio, TX in April of 2009. | |||

Example of day 1 of the competition: |

|
You have just been hired as the network and security administrators
at a small company and will be taking administrative control of all
information systems. You know very little about the network, what
security level has been maintained, or what software has been
installed. You have one hour to familiarize yourself with the
network and systems and to begin the security updates and patches
before the red team starts actively attacking your company. In the
midst of all the commotion, you have to keep up with the needs of
the business and user demands while maintaining service level
agreements for all critical Internet services. Welcome to the first
