Q: How do I log into the KVMs?
A: Press the Ctrl button twice in and use the following
to log in. Enter "user1" for
the username and password. Select the machine you wish to
use.
Q: How do I log onto the systems?
A: Students are required to use the following
credentials
to login the workstations or servers.
Username: ialab
Password: ialab
Q: Why am I only allowed to log in as a user?
A: Managing the information assurance laboratory is a
delicate process. Most, if not all research can be preformed
with out administrative access. If approved by Dr. Steve
Graham or a BIS Technology Fellow, administrative access can
be granted to certain machines in situations that warrant
administrative access.
Q: How do I schedule time to work on my project?
A: Please, check the calendar and projects schedule to
find an available time. Then verify the time with Steven
Graham at skg@dsu.edu
Q: Does the lab have an Internet connection?
A: No, the lab cannot be placed on the DSU network
according to strict policy.
Q: Can I use floppy disks or USB flash drives in the lab?
A: No, according to policy you cannot use any type of
removable media to bring it or take out software/files.

available on the systems.
Q: What types of things can be done in the IA lab?
A: The information assurance lab
primary serves computer security classes, however
individuals wanting to test computer security tools or
conduct computer security research may make use of the lab.
Q: What resources are available
in the IA Lab? A: The
information assurance lab features four pods. Each pod has
two nodes attached to three machines via KVM. A Sonicwall
firewall is also available for use in each of the pods. The
four pods each connect to the primary server. Each
workstation has a licensed copy of VMWare as well as a
variety of images available for use, so that users may
experiment without fear of causing havoc to a machine.
